Choosing the right accessories

February 15th, 2012

Choosing the right accessories for your motor-homing needs.

For the wild camper.

This section is for people who prefer to go off the beaten track and avoid camp sites.

  • Extra leisure batteries will keep your creature comfits running
  • Solar panels are a great item if you decide to set up camp for a few days off  site. These will provide you with that much needed boost allowing you to say put that little bit longer.
  • Portable generators – don’t let the lack off sun spoil your camping fun with a “genny” the weather won’t be a problem!
  • Large gas tanks are a must for keeping you warm and putting a hot meal in your belly. There is nothing worst than running out of gas half way through cooking a meal.
  • We all have chemical toilets, so choosing the correct chemical for it is important. For those camping in Germany, items such as Elson Blue are banned because of the environmental impact an acceptable alternative is Blue/Green Bio.
  • Webasto Diesel Heaters are a must have. They can provide you with all the heat you need and with it being diesel powered you don’t have to worry about where you can get more gas.

For camp-site campers.

  • Electric hook up cables. Always carry a spare, because you don’t know how far you may be from the Hook Up box.
  • Gas connectors. There are a number of different gas fittings through out Europe.
  • Check the capacity of the campsite electric breaker. You don’t want to trip the site out by overloading the circuit.
  • Air Conditioning units. When you have had a busy day exploring the area around the camp site or just chilling in the sun you’ll want a nice cool place to sleep, then an air con unit is the best way to prevent a restless night.

Important items for all.

  • A small car or scooter it is not a must but could enhance your stay greatly. Getting a little run around to get you to the shops for items you were sure you packed there are a couple ways to take them with you one way is buy taking a trailer this is a great way but taking the vehicle off can be a real pain and there is the risk for jack knifing another way that is becoming more popular because of its simplicity is a bike rack for bikes and an A-Frame for cars they have the advantage of being quicker to operate with the A-Frame there is no chance of jack knifing.
  • Unbreakable plates and cups ether plastic or enamel coated metal are great items to have.
  • Updated map packs for you GPS devise or latest revision of map.
  • Satellite TV. Want to keep up with your favourite shows while away then this is the only option for you.
  • Levelling Jacks because nothing is worst than your morning cupper sliding off the table. With our levelling jacks you don’t have to worry about that. With an electronic system at the push off a button your motor home will be level without getting your hands dirty.
